Why Visit Brighton

Brighton's core, Brighthelmstone, dates back to Domesday. Its Regency architecture, exemplified by the Royal Pavilion and seafront squares, reveals its resort heritage. The twisting Lanes, once fishermen's alleys, showcase antique shops. This rich past is what is Brighton famous for.

Beyond its famous pebble beach, Brighton borders the South Downs National Park, offering vast green spaces. Explore 11 hectares of urban parkland or stroll along the seafront. For a unique ride, the Volk's Electric Railway, world's oldest, runs east from the Palace Pier, enhancing visiting Brighton.

Brighton's food scene features fresh seafood and a diverse vegan offering. Sample oysters at The Regency Restaurant or explore the North Laine's many independent eateries. The Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival highlights seasonal produce, revealing why visit Brighton.

Brighton seafront is just something else

The beach and the pier kept us busy the whole trip. Brighton Palace Pier is loud, fun, and a little chaotic - exactly what you want from a seaside day out. Fish and chips right by the water were proper good too.

Great city break with loads to do

Brighton has so much packed into a small space. The Lanes are brilliant for browsing quirky shops and picking up things you didn't know you needed. Food scene is solid, people are friendly, and it never felt too crowded even on a weekend.

Loved every bit of it

Didn't expect a UK seaside town to feel this cool and easy to explore. North Laine is packed with independent cafes, vintage shops and street art. Everything is walkable and the whole place has real character. Really good time overall.

Perfect weekend by the sea

We came for the beach and stayed for everything else. The food options along the seafront are great and the portions are generous. Brighton rock candy is a must - total classic. The promenade is long, flat and really easy to walk along.

Anna R. - Berlin, Germany - November 29, 2025

So much more than just a beach town

The Royal Pavilion completely blew me away - nothing else looks like it anywhere in England. Quirky, bold and just a little over the top in the best way. Paired with good coffee shops nearby, it made for a really enjoyable afternoon.

Giulia F. - Milan, Italy - November 8, 2025

Underrated UK city for sure

Brighton in December is still worth it. The Christmas market near the seafront was cozy and the mulled wine was warming. The Lanes get quiet in winter which makes shopping there actually enjoyable. Felt like a proper local experience.
